Arriving by Ferry and Catamaran

Most visitors arrive by ferry or catamaran with the national ferry company, Jadrolinija.  There are four entry points to Hvar, only one of which (Stari Grad) has a bus meeting the ferries.

Stari Grad is the main car ferry terminal for the island and about 6km from Vrboska.  There are regular ferries throughout the year.

Jelsa has a daily catamaran from Split via Bol, departing at 1600.  Jelsa is about 3km from Vrboska, a pretty 35-minute coastal walk for those with energy.

Hvar Town has daily catamarans to and from Split.  Hvar is about 25m from Vrboska.

On the eastern tip of Hvar is the small port of Sucuraj, which is the most convenient entry point to Hvar from Dubrovnik and the south.  The ferry crossing from Drvenik is 30 mins and the ensuing drive to Vrboska is 60km (about 75 minutes).
